Description: This project is a joint request from the Wisconsin Board of Commissioners of Public Lands (BCPL), The Nature Conservancy (TNC), and The Trust for Public Land (TPL). Funding will go towards protecting more than 20,000 acres of forest and lake shoreline within the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Preserving this land would protect the headwaters of a popular trout fishing stream, retain the forest's key value as a wildlife corridor, maintain intact ecosystems by preventing landscape fragmentation, and retain public access and recreational values.

Description: This project will upgrade the city's wastewater treatment plant, allowing Janesville to continue protecting the Rock River while supporting the city's economic recovery. The project will involve activities such as replacing aged equipment that is inefficient, costly to maintain and vulnerable to failure; expanding capacity to comply with requirements and ensure permit compliance; and updating treatment technology to prepare for more stringent phosphorus and nitrogen permit limits.

Description: This project consists of upgrading and updating the secondary treatment equipment used at the Jones Island treatment plant that is nearing or beyond its normal life span. Installing new energy efficient equipment is expected to save MMSD ratepayers $600,000 to $700,000 each year in energy costs.

Amount Requested: $1,000,000
Description: This project will help the City of Waukesha comply with Federal Safe Drinking Water mandates for updating the City's existing water supply to meet new standards for radionuclide. This project will involve the addition of treatment facilities at designated existing deep wells, the development of shallow wells and the blending of water to achieve compliance.
