The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is requesting $500,000 to develop a Center for Water Equipment and Policy.  The center will focus on research, developing new technologies and establishing partnerships between the local universities and businesses to develop new products.  The funds will be used to develop the facility, purchase laboratory equipment and retain local engineers and technical support staff to foster business activities and partnerships. The center will serve as a hub for businesses to work with the local universities for water related projects.

Amount Requested: $700,000

The Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, located in Green Bay, WI, is requesting $700,000 for the construction and development of a maritime training center.  NWTC serves approximately 400,000 people across nine counties and offers a variety of technical diplomas, associate degrees and certificate options.  The NWTC has partnered with Wisconsin’s major shipbuilders and maritime manufactures to form the Maritime Alliance.  The development of a maritime training facility will enable NWTC to offer specialized training for new and incumbent workers for the maritime industry.  Additionally, it will allow the maritime industry to recruit from the workforce within the state.
